FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Governor Names New Commissioner to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (May 21, 2012) – Shannon Davies was today appointed by Governor Mary Fallin to serve a six-year term on the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC). Davies, an Edmond attorney, replaces the departing Gayle Harris as a representative of employers on the commission. She joins commissioners Reverend W.B. Parker (chair), Senator Mike Fair (employees), Dr. Douglas Major (employers) and Reverend Mike Wester (employees) in overseeing OESC agency operations.
Shannon Davies is a partner in the firm of Lester, Loving & Davies, P.C. in Edmond. Her focus is labor and employment litigation and business litigation. She’s a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section, the Litigation Section, the Women in Law Section and the Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association. She was formerly a member of the Employment Management Association, a Professional Emphasis Group of the Society for Human Resource Management, and has participated in the Oklahoma Society of Human Resource Managers.
“Ms. Davies will be a welcome addition for our agency,” said OESC Executive Director Richard McPherson. “Her expertise with labor issues and her legal background will provide us with valuable insight as we work to serve Oklahoma the best we can.”
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission provides unemployment compensation to support unemployed workers and their communities, matches jobs and workers to benefit local labor markets, and prepares a skilled workforce to meet employers’ needs.
