Arbuckle Bass

John Schmidt of OKC recently caught this 11.74 lb largemouth on Lake of the Arbuckles in about 5 ft. of water. Share your photos with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The Wildlife Department is working with the Oklahoma Health Department to craft messaging that promotes responsible outdoor recreation during the COVID-19 outbreak. The Department and health authorities agree that safeguarding mental health is important and spending time outdoors is a great way to do so, while following guidelines issued by federal and state authorities.

Ft. Gibson: March 30. Elevation above normal, water 65 and less than 1 ft. of clarity. Most public boat ramps and other access points are under water. Many of the usual parks are also closed. Please use extreme caution while using the lake during these conditions. Grand: March 29. Elevation 4 3/4 ft. above normal, water 50-55 and muddy. The lake is muddy from all the runoff out of KS/MO river systems (Neosho, Spring and Elk). The upper end of the Elk is clearing up with debris still in the water. Blue and channel catfish good on live bait, live shad, shad and shrimp along channels, flats, main lake, river channel and river mouth. Fishing is hot and cold with some great success on those just right days. A new state record spotted gar was taken this weekend as well as several good bass reported by anglers. Lake levels are becoming more stable. Once lake levels have become stable spring fishing patterns should be in full swing. Striped bass fair on Alabama rigs and live shad in the main lake, around points and river mouth. Striped bass are difficult to catch in muddy water, once water clears up striped bass fishing should pick back up. White bass fair on grubs, jigs, live bait, plastic baits and sassy shad along creek channels and river channel. White bass are running up the feeder creeks on warm days. Crappie fair on jigs, live bait and minnows around brush structure and docks. Crappie are being caught in 10-15 ft. of water but some crappie have moved into the shallows.
