For the second year, hunting and fishing licenses issued by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation are available as collectible "hard cards" that feature the artwork of Oklahoma artists. The durable, pocket-sized plastic cards allow hunters and anglers to carry up to nine licenses on one long-lasting card.
The newest cards – available in early-mid January – feature artwork by Lauren Florence of Oklahoma City and Carolyn Mock of Bartlesville.
"What a Catch!"
Florence's art, "What a Catch!" was inspired by an old family photo hanging in her home.
"The photograph is of four brothers – one of whom is my husband’s grandfather – taken near Watonga in about 1935 in the middle of the Dust Bowl,” she said. “My father-in-law tells me that those fish weren’t for fun; they were for dinner. His folks didn’t leave during the Dust Bowl. They made do. I’m really excited about these guys getting to tag along on more Oklahoma fishing trips. I think they would get a real kick out of that. I’m also excited about a Dust Bowl-era image helping support future conservation efforts in Oklahoma.”
Florence grew up in Bartlesville and earned a fine arts degree from the University of Kansas. She and her family have lived in Oklahoma City since 2013. Her artwork can be found at www.LaurenFlorence.com, and on Facebook and Instagram.

"Strutters Ball"
Mock's artwork, titled “Strutters Ball,” depicts three tom turkeys. Knowing that hunting and fishing license sales are key to habitat management and restoration, Mock sees her featured artwork as a way of giving back to the wildlife she’s painted through her career.
Raised near Claremore, Mock spent much of her childhood surrounded by wildlife and farm animals. “There was no question what I would paint when I started my fine art career,” she said. Mock’s artwork has been featured in the popular NatureWorks Art Show and Sale in Tulsa.

Sportsmen and sportswomen – especially lifetime license holders and returning customers – can purchase the cards by logging on to the Go Outdoors Oklahoma online system to update their information and complete their profile. New users are invited to create a profile. The cards will also be available from retailers statewide.
