Dove Season Opens September 1

Dove hunting season will open Sunday, Sept. 1, across Oklahoma. The dove opener is always a highly anticipated opportunity for many hunters to get back into the field and harvest some game after the long, hot summer.

Opening Day Reminder

The OLAP is entering its third season, and feedback about hunters' actions has been overwhelmingly positive. Oklahoma hunters have been exceptionally courteous and respectful to the land and landowners, please continue to uphold this standard.

A dove season reminder: Do not hunt within 150 yards of homes. Be mindful of where your shotshell pellets are coming down, and do not shoot over property boundaries.

New Walk-in Hunting Areas: Open September 1

Below are walk-in areas that are open to public access beginning September 1. Stay tuned for future enrollment announcements in Johnston, Woods, Kay, and Noble counties in September.

Harmon County: 640 acres

Effective immediately, the following properties are removed from the OLAP:

Greer_H002: Walk-in Hunting Area: Archery/Shotshell Only

Kay_H001: Walk-in Hunting Area: Archery/Shotshell Only

Logan_H003: Walk-in Hunting Area: Archery/Shotshell Only

No Walk-in Areas are currently Temporarily Closed.

Administered by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, The Oklahoma Land Access Program (OLAP) provides financial incentives to landowners who allow public access for hunting, fishing, stream access, and wildlife viewing opportunities on private lands. No additional permit is required by sportspersons to access OLAP walk-in areas, however hunting and fishing licenses are required, respectively, unless a person is exempt.
