East and westbound I-44 are narrowed to two lanes between N.W. Expressway (mm 125B) and May Ave. (mm 124) through summer 2021 for a bridge project over Pennsylvania Ave.
***I-40 ramp to I-44 closed *into rush hour* due to crash
The eastbound I-40 off-ramp to westbound I-44 (runs south, mm 147A) is closed due to a crash. Crews estimate the closure lasting into rush hour. Drivers should locate an alternate route such as I-35 or expect delays in the area.
I-35 ramp closes at Hefner Rd., I-35 lanes narrow Wednesday night
The southbound I-35 off-ramp to Hefner Rd. (mm 136) will be closed and the right lane of southbound I-35 will be closed at Hefner Rd. from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday for surface repairs.
I-44 narrows, ramp closes at SH-37/S.W. 134th St. Thursday
The westbound I-44 (runs south) off-ramp to SH-37/S.W. 134th St. (mm 110) will be closed and westbound I-44 will be narrowed between SH-37/S.W. 134th St. and S.W. 149th St. (mm 109) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday for guardrail repairs.
I-35 narrows at S.W. 89th St. Thursday night
North and southbound I-35 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane between S.W. 89th St. (mm 120) and SH-74 (mm 91) near Purcell from 8 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday for resurfacing.
I-40 service road narrows at Kilpatrick Turnpike through November
The westbound I-40 service road between the John Kilpatrick Turnpike (mm 139A) and SH-4/Mustang Rd. (mm 139B) will be narrowed to one lane through November for bridge painting.
Ongoing Construction Projects:
I-235/I-44 interchange work continues through 2021; expect lane shifts and intermittent ramp closures
Drivers should be alert to the following traffic impacts in the I-235/US-77 construction zone at I-44 for ongoing reconstruction and widening that continues through 2021:
Motorists should be alert to changing conditions including lane shifts, narrowed lanes and workers along northbound and southbound I-235 between N. 50th St. and N. 63rd St. and along eastbound and westbound I-44 between Western Ave. (mm 126) and Kelley Ave. (mm 128B).
Both I-235 and I-44 will be narrowed to two lanes in each direction during peak commute hours, but may narrow to one lane some nights and weekends.
Eastbound I-44 traffic planning to exit to southbound I-235/US-77, northbound I-235/US-77 or to southbound Lincoln Blvd. must stay in the far right lane starting at Western Ave. (mm 126). Additionally, eastbound and westbound I-44 has limited merge areas at ramps in the work zone. Motorists should be prepared to stop and yield when entering I-44 in these areas.
Motorists traveling from northbound I-235 to westbound I-44 will need to be in the right lane of northbound I-235 and exit at N. 50th St. (mm 50B). Once on the ramp, stay to the left to access the one-lane ramp to westbound I-44 (mm 44A). There is a limited merge area at the end of the ramp onto westbound I-44. Be prepared to stop and yield to mainline I-44 traffic.
Motorists should be alert to the realignment of the northbound I-235 off-ramp to eastbound I-44. Additionally, eastbound I-44 remains narrowed to two lanes up to Kelley Ave. (mm 128B) and motorists are advised to use caution entering this area of the work zone.
Drivers are advised to use extra caution when merging onto southbound I-235/US-77 from N. 63rd St. as this on-ramp is shifted and there is a limited merge area.
The northbound I-235/US-77 off-ramp to N. 63rd St. will be narrowed to two lanes at the intersection with right turns allowed from the thru-lane starting through fall.
Motorists also should expect intermittent ramp closures throughout the project.
Drivers should plan ahead and use their Off Broadway alternate routes of I-35, I-40, SH-74/Lake Hefner Parkway and Martin Luther King Ave. to avoid the area.
I-40 narrows at Sunnylane Rd. in Del City daily through 2023
East and westbound I-40 will be narrowed to two lanes between Sunnylane Rd. (mm 155A) and Hudiburg Dr. (mm 156B) bridge reconstruction at Crutcho Creek, S.E. 15th St. and Sooner Rd. Other traffic impacts include:
There is limited merge areas at the I-40 and Sunnylane Rd., S.E. 15th and Sooner Rd. on-ramps within the work zone. Motorists are advised to be extra vigilant and use caution at ramps before merging.
The eastbound I-40 Service Rd. will be narrowed to one lane between S.E. 15th St. and Hudiburg Dr. through spring 2021;
Eastbound and westbound S.E. 15th St. is narrowed to one lane in each direction at the intersection with Vickie Dr./Tinker Diagonal through spring 2021 with temporary traffic signals being installed. Additionally, northbound and southbound Vickie Dr. turn lanes are closed at S.E. 15th St., however, motorists still will be allowed to make left turns after yielding at the intersection.
The westbound S.E. 15th St. left turn onto the I-40 service road will be closed through spring, drivers can use Vickie Dr. Westbound drivers can turn around past construction and take eastbound S.E. 15th St. to eastbound I-40 service road to Sooner Rd. as a detour.
Sooner Rd. is narrowed to one lane in each direction under I-40 through spring 2021. Motorists may use the service roads for a detour during the closure.
Motorists are advised to locate an alternate route such as I-240 and US-62/N.E. 23rd St. or plan extra travel time and be prepared for delays in the area.
I-44 narrowed at S.W. 59th St. through late 2020, I-44 traffic affected south of I-40, lane and ramp closures planned through 2021
Drivers can expect reduced speed limits and lane and ramp closures on I-44 and city streets as part of ongoing I-44 bridge and pavement rehabilitation between I-40 (mm 120) and S.W. 74th St. (mm 114) that continues through 2021.
Westbound I-44 (runs south) is narrowed to two lanes at S.W. 59th St. (mm 116A) through late 2020 for bridge rehabilitation.
East and westbound S.W. 59th St. will be narrowed to one lane at I-44 through mid-November.
The westbound I-240 off-ramp to westbound I-44 (mm 1A) will be closed through December.
Upcoming closures on I-44 and city streets, including S.E. 29th St., will be announced as work progresses.
Motorists, especially Will Rogers World Airport traffic, can expect significant delays and should plan extra travel time or use an alternate route, such as I-35 to the east or SH-4 or the John Kilpatrick Turnpike (toll road) to the west.
SH-66/39th Expwy narrowed to one lane at SH-74 through winter 2020
SH-66/39th Expwy is narrowed to one lane in each direction at SH-74/Lake Hefner Pkwy through winter 2020 for bridge deck rehabilitation. The on and off-ramps will remain open, but drivers should reduce speeds and use caution when merging.
I-240 Service Rd./S.W. 74th St. turnaround, lanes closed at Pennsylvania Ave. through November
The left turn lane on the westbound I-240 Service Rd./S.W. 74th St. is closed at Pennsylvania Ave. through November for sidewalk construction in partnership with the City of Oklahoma City. I-40 narrowed to two lanes at Garth Brooks Blvd. in Yukon; Frisco Rd. closed at I-40 in Yukon through summer 2021
Eastbound and westbound I-40 is narrowed to two lanes in each direction between Garth Brooks Blvd. (mm 136) and N. Cimarron Rd. (mm 132) in Yukon for ongoing construction through summer 2021. Motorists are advised to expect delays and lane shifts in the work zone. Other closures include:
Frisco Rd. over I-40 is closed between 10th St. and Vandament Ave. through summer 2021;
N.W. 23rd St. will be closed to through traffic from Richland Rd. and Frisco Rd. through summer 2021.
While Vandament Ave. is expected to remain open near I-40 during construction, motorists are advised to use caution and to watch for construction trucks and equipment moving in the area.
I-44 narrowed near N.W. Expressway through summer 2021
East and westbound I-44 are narrowed to two lanes between N.W. Expressway (mm 125B) and May Ave. (mm 124) through summer 2021 for a bridge project over Pennsylvania Ave. Ramps remain open.
US-77/Broadway narrows at 15th St. in Edmond through December
North and southbound US-77/Broadway is intermittently narrowed and median turnarounds are closed between 15th St. and Ninth St. in Edmond through December for utility work by the City of Edmond. Use caution in the area. For more information, call the City of Edmond at 405-216-7770.
US-62/N.E. 23rd St. narrowed near Midwest Blvd. in Midwest City through fall 2020
Drivers can expect various lane closures on east and westbound US-62/N.E. 23rd St. between Midwest Blvd. and Air Depot Blvd. in Midwest City through fall 2020 for bridge painting.
US-81/I-40 Business/SH-66 bridge narrowed, lanes shifted at S.E. 22nd St. in El Reno through summer 2021
Northbound and southbound US-81/I-40 Business/SH-66 traffic is shifted between S.E. 22nd St. and Elm St. in El Reno to a detour just to the east of the bridge through summer 2021 as part of an ongoing bridge replacement project. The detour is one lane in each direction and wide loads are restricted. Use extra caution in the detour, especially at the temporary railroad crossing near Elm St., which will have lights and signs to warn drivers.
Sooner Rd. narrowed to one lane near I-240 through fall 2020
Northbound and southbound Sooner Rd. is narrowed to one lane in each direction between S.E. 70th St. and S.E. 80th St. through spring for a bridge rehabilitation project at I-240. Drivers can expect significant lane shifts in this work zone through late 2020.
SH-9 shoulder closed at 48th Ave. S.E. in Norman through fall 2020
The right shoulder of westbound SH-9 is closed between 48th Ave. S.E. and 36th Ave. S.E. in Norman through fall 2020 for pedestrian trail construction in partnership with the City of Norman. SH-74 narrowed to one lane at N.W. 192nd St. through fall 2020
SH-74 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between N.W. 192nd St. and N.W. 206th St. through fall for additional work as part of SH-74 corridor widening. Left turns at N.W. 192nd St. and N.W. 206th St. will not be affected. Drivers should be alert to workers on the median and shoulders through the corridor.
SH-4/Piedmont Rd. lanes shifted near Britton Rd. near Yukon through fall 2020
North and southbound SH-4/Piedmont Rd. lanes are shifted to a temporary alignment between Britton Rd. and the North Canadian River near Yukon through the fall as part of ongoing bridge reconstruction project between Wilshire Blvd. and Wagner Rd. Additionally, eastbound and westbound Wilshire Blvd. traffic at SH-4 near Yukon will be narrowed and shifted onto temporary lanes through fall 2020 for intersection modification work part of a SH-4 bridge and realignment project. Traffic will be routed onto SH-4 for immediate access onto Wilshire Blvd. at the intersection. Motorists should expect delays and congestion in the area and are urged to use extra caution as SH-4 traffic does not stop at the intersection.
Douglas Blvd., N.E. 10th St. narrowed to one lane in Midwest City
Douglas Blvd. is narrowed to one lane in each direction between N.E. 10th St. and Cardinal Place in Midwest City as part of a City of Midwest City project. Additionally, east and westbound N.E. 10th St. is narrowed to one lane in each direction at Douglas Blvd as part of the same project. Oklahoma Ave. in Okarche intermittently narrows through fall 2020
Drivers can expect intermittent lane closures and lane shifts, as well as temporary sidewalk closures, on Oklahoma Ave./County Line Rd. between US-81/Main St. and First St. in Okarche through fall 2020 for pavement/sidewalk reconstruction in partnership with the Town of Okarche. Construction also will impact on-street parking on Oklahoma Ave. during various phases of the project. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to plan for delays in the area from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday with the possibility of some weekend closures as necessary.
