Speed limit increases along US-412 from Woodward to Boise City
The Oklahoma Transportation
Commission this week unanimously approved increasing the speed limit to 70 mph
along a 185-mile stretch of US-412. The speed limit previously was 65 mph. The
increase begins at the western edge of Woodward and extends north and west to
Boise City.
Oklahoma Department of
Transportation crews began installing new signage along the route today and
will continue installation through the next week.
The department completed a speed
study of the route before presenting the change to the commission. There are an
estimated 5,000 vehicles a day on average at both Woodward and Boise City using
the corridor.
All municipalities along the route
passed resolutions acknowledging the speed limit change. Communities impacted
by the change are Woodward, Fort Supply, May, Slapout, Bryan’s Corner, Balko,
Elmwood, Hardesty, Guymon, Four Corners and Boise City.
