Join Us For A Specialty Crop Tour - April 27th

Specialty Crop Tour-April 24

This tour is all about strawberries and grapes!! 

We hope you will join us for a ONE day Specialty Crop Educational bus tour. We will be visiting a farm that grows strawberries, a vineyard, and end the day at a winery to learn about how grapes are processed and turned into wines! The tour will begin at 8:00 am and conclude by 4:00 pm. LUNCH is provided. You will receive a confirmation email within 72 hours - we do have a cap on the number that can attend, so register ASAP!

NAITCO GRANTS
Calling all general education teachers!
Apply to receive a grant for up to $500 in resources or materials to increase the inclusion of agriculture into Pre-K through 12th grade classroom core content instruction. Grant applications are due April 15, 2024 with final reports due no later than December 31, 2024.
Grant funds may be used to purchase resources and materials, including ag-accurate books, from one, or both, of the following sources:

Ag Literacy Certification Course

There is a brand new, online course designed for educators to receive professional learning about agricultural literacy and how to integrate it in your classroom. We are seeking teachers to pilot test the program. Check out the perks!
In the Agricultural Literacy Certification (ALC) course, you will explore the diverse field of agriculture, learn about its pivotal role in society, and get a better understanding of how agriculture can be integrated into your curriculum to enhance your students’ understanding of the world around them.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR NATIONAL CONFERENCE

Are you looking for a scholarship opportunity to attend the 2024 National Ag in the Classroom Conference??? Are you a Pre-service or Early Career teacher??
The NAITCO Pre-Service/Early Career Conference Scholarship is funded in partnership with USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture to support preK-12 pre-service and early career teachers whose identity and experiences reflect the communities they serve or are seeking to serve. By including information on environmental and social issues impacting food, agricultural, natural resources, and human sciences in classroom instruction, preK-12 teachers assist students in understanding the pivotal role of agriculture in the U.S. and world economies. The scholarship is intended to fund pre- and early career in-service teachers through training and opportunities to incorporate food and agriculture curricula in preK-12 classrooms.
This scholarship allows up to 10 pre- and early career in-service preK-12 teachers to find community and learn about tools and resources available to support their success in the classroom through attendance at the annual National Agriculture in the Classroom (NAITC) Conference. Applicants from multicultural groups, teaching underinvested communities, and/or from urban areas are encouraged to apply.
This scholarship (valued at $2,500) will provide:
1- Early Bird Registration ($485)
Up to 4 nights lodging at conference location (Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City)
Travel to/from Salt Lake City, Utah (reimbursed w/ receipts after conference attendance)
Scholarship Qualifications*:
Pre-Service Students:
Currently enrolled junior or senior college student
PreK-12 education major
Early Career Educator:
State-certified classroom teacher:
Less than 5 years classroom experience
Currently employed by a public or private school
Planning to teach during 2024-2025 school year
*Preference given to applicants from multicultural groups, teaching underinvested communities, and/or from urban areas.
The 2024 NAITCO Pre-Service/Early Career Conference Scholarship applications are now open. The application deadline is April 15, 2024. Applicants will be notified by April 30, 2024 to enable them to register and secure the early-bird registration cost of $485 provided by the scholarship.
PRESERVICE TEACHERS



THE TRIBAL AGRICULTURE FELLOWSHIP

The Tribal Agriculture Fellowship (TAF) is a proud partner with National Agriculture in the Classroom to promote agricultural literacy and advance agriculture among Tribal communities. TAF recognizes the importance of agriculture education and growing the future leaders of Native Agriculture. Partnering with the National Agriculture in the Classroom program allows the opportunity for teachers to continue fostering their knowledge of agriculture and implementing those understandings to classrooms of students all over Indian Country.
This year's scholarships will provide:
1- Early Bird Registration ($485)
Up to $800 flight credit
Lodging at conference location (Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City)
Scholarship Qualifications:
PreK-12th grade teacher
Teaching Native students (public or BIE schools) or of Native descent
The 2024 Tribal Agriculture Fellowship Conference Scholarship application is now open. The application deadline is April 22, 2024.
