City to Honor Korean War Veterans
Veterans Park on Main Street will be the future home for a monument that honors and recognizes those who served in the Korean War, often referred to as "The Forgotten War." The Broken Arrow City Council authorized a contract with local artist J. David Nunneley for the Korean War Memorial Sculpture.
The monument will stand approximately 80 inches tall, weigh around 800 pounds, and will take eight to nine months to build. The statue will reflect the likeness of a U.S. soldier wearing a heavy coat and holding a rifle while standing in snow surveying the landscape during the Korean War.

City Closes on Land for Innovation District
Broken Arrow Mayor Debra Wimpee signed the closing papers that transferred ownership of 90 acres just south of Florence St. between Olive and Aspen avenues to the City of Broken Arrow. The land will be used as the future site of the Innovation District, a mixed-use development featuring residential, commercial, and educational components while focusing on high-paying career opportunities.
A group of city leaders, private business leaders, and education partners traveled to South Carolina to learn from Greenville city leaders about they successfully created their own innovative hub. The ideas, takeaways, and best practices we learned will help us plan for our own Innovation District.
