OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Broadband Office (OBO) is celebrating the completion of Dobson Fiber’s final three broadband expansion projects funded through the American Rescue Plan Act Capital Projects Fund (ARPA CPF).
The three completed projects will bring high-speed fiber-optic internet service to 407 homes and businesses in and around the towns of Canute, Foss, Headrick and Keota.
Dobson was awarded approximately $623,869 for the three projects, which are designed to expand reliable broadband access in rural Oklahoma communities.
“These projects are serving communities with populations under 1,000 people,” said Mike Sanders, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Broadband Office. “No matter the size of a community, Oklahomans need access to reliable, high-speed internet to further their education, keep up with their health, and grow their businesses. We appreciate Dobson’s partnership in bringing fiber infrastructure to rural parts of our state.”
With construction complete, homes and businesses within the project areas now have access to fiber-optic broadband capable of supporting essential online services. Residents can see which internet providers serve their home or business by typing in their address on the Internet Availability Map.
The Oklahoma Legislature created the Oklahoma Broadband Office in 2022 to ensure that at least 95% of Oklahomans have access to high-speed internet.
In 2024, the OBO awarded projects from both the ARPA State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund and Capital Projects Fund programs. The OBO continues to work with broadband providers across the state to complete federally funded infrastructure projects and fulfill its legislative mandate.
