OKLAHOMA CITY —The Oklahoma Broadband Office (OBO) is celebrating the completion of two broadband expansion projects by Lake Region Technology & Communications that are bringing fiber-optic internet service to communities in Wagoner County.
The projects were funded through Oklahoma’s American Rescue Plan Act Capital Projects Fund (ARPA CPF) broadband program. Lake Region received approximately $756,000 across two projects to expand high-speed internet infrastructure in and around the towns of Okay and Porter.
With construction complete, residents and businesses within the project areas now have access to reliable, high-speed fiber-optic broadband. Residents can see which Internet providers serve their home or business by typing in their address on the Internet Availability Map.
“These projects represent another important step in expanding reliable broadband access to communities across Oklahoma,” said Mike Sanders, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Broadband Office. “We appreciate Lake Region’s partnership and their work to connect over one hundred homes and businesses in Wagoner County.”
The Oklahoma Legislature created the Oklahoma Broadband Office in 2022 to ensure that at least 95% of Oklahomans have access to high-speed internet.
In 2024, the OBO awarded projects from both the ARPA State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund and Capital Projects Fund programs. Today’s completed projects represent two of the projects awarded from CPF. The OBO continues to work with broadband providers across the state to complete federally funded infrastructure projects and fulfill its legislative mandate.
