Who is eligible to apply?
The following categories of political subdivisions are eligible to apply for the spring round of 2026 Opioid Abatement grant funding:
- County
- Municipality
- Public Trusts
- Collaborative/Joint Applications
School Districts, Technology School Districts, and Institutes of Higher Education will be eligible to apply in Fall 2026. An announcement from the Attorney General's Office on the timeline will be released later this year.
How much money is my political subdivision eligible to apply for?
Funding tiers for each eligible political subdivision are listed here on the website.
Who reviews the grant applications?
Grants are rigorously reviewed and approved by the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board.
When will we know if our grant application was approved?
The Board anticipates these grants for three-year projects will be awarded in August 2026.

Virtual office hours will be hosted by the Opioid Abatement Grant Staff this month! These interactive sessions will provide you with the opportunity to ask questions about the 2026 opioid abatement grant, eligibility, proposal preparation, and hear about available no-cost resources.

Tips for registering:
- Read the content on the grant application page.

Register Early. To apply for funding, you and your organization must be registered on the online grant portal for Oklahoma Attorney General grants.
- To register, click on the Agency Administrator Registration link underneath the Login fields. A screenshot with arrows is provided below. Opioid Abatement staff will approve your registration request within 3 days.

Tips for applying:
- Once your registration is approved, you will receive an automated email notice from the online grant portal - OGX.
- The abatement grant application link will appear in your Opportunities field when you log into OGX.
- Information in the application may be entered, edited, and uploaded as many times as needed before the deadline date of 03/31/2026.
- When your application is complete and all supporting is attached, click Submit. If you do not Submit your application, it will not be reviewed.

The Opioid Abatement Board met on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 3:15 p.m. at the Chief Medical Examiner's Office. Board members approved the 2026 grant funding schedule, heard program updates from opioid abatement staff, and learned about a grant funded project happening in Lincoln County.

Title 74, sections 30.3 through 30.8 create the Political Subdivisions Opioid Abatement Grants Act. The Act’s purpose is to promote and protect the health of Oklahomans by using monetary grants to abate the opioid crisis in a comprehensive manner that includes cooperation and collaboration with political subdivisions.
Grants will fund treatment and recovery programs, assistance with co-occurring disorders and mental health issues, opioid abuse education and prevention, proper prescription efforts, and strategies to decrease the supply of narcotics across the state. Grants are rigorously reviewed and approved by the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board comprising of the Attorney General and appointees of the Governor, Speaker of the House, Senate President Pro Tempore, State Treasurer, State Superintendent for Public Instruction, and State Auditor and Inspector.
