 The Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General, Heathy Minds Policy Initiative, potential applicants and current Opioid Abatement Grantees met earlier this month in Oklahoma City to connect, discuss, and learn from one another. Topics explored included an overview of the Opioid Abatement grant program, grant reporting and compliance, the state of the opioid crisis in Oklahoma, and implementation support for potential applicants and grantees.

Higher Education Opioid Abatement Grants Open |

Who is eligible to apply for this grant round?
The board of regents or board of trustees of a state educational institution which is a member of The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education will be considered an eligible political subdivision under the Political Subdivisions Opioid Abatement Grants Act. Click here for a list of eligible institutions.
How to apply?
Applications will be accepted through an online portal found on the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Grant website.

REGISTRATION & APPLICATION TIPS
Tips for registering:
Read the content on the grant application page prior to registering.
Register Early. To apply for funding, you and your organization must be registered on the online grant portal for Oklahoma Attorney General Grants.
To register click on the Agency Administrator Registration link underneath the Login fields. A screenshot with arrows is provided below for reference. Opioid Abatement staff will approve your registration request within 3 days.

Tips for applying:
Once your registration is approved, you will receive an automated email notice from the online grant portal - OGX.
The abatement grant application link will appear in your Opportunities field when you log into OGX.
Information in the application may be entered, edited, and uploaded as many times as needed before the deadline date of 12/31/2025.
When your application is complete and all supporting is attached, click Submit. If you do not Submit your application, it will not be reviewed.

Title 74, sections 30.3 through 30.8 create the Political Subdivisions Opioid Abatement Grants Act. The Act’s purpose is to promote and protect the health of Oklahomans by using monetary grants to abate the opioid crisis in a comprehensive manner that includes cooperation and collaboration with political subdivisions.
Grants will fund treatment and recovery programs, assistance with co-occurring disorders and mental health issues, opioid abuse education and prevention, proper prescription efforts, and strategies to decrease the supply of narcotics across the state. Grants are rigorously reviewed and approved by the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board comprising of the Attorney General and appointees of the Governor, Speaker of the House, Senate President Pro Tempore, State Treasurer, State Superintendent for Public Instruction, and State Auditor and Inspector.
