Important Information Regarding Vendor’s License Application Fee Increase
Effective April 9, 2025, in accordance with the passage of House Bill 366, to support the Organized Crime Commission Fund, the fee associated with a new vendor’s license application will increase from $25 to $50. This includes county vendor’s and transient vendor’s licenses.
Under Ohio law, a vendor’s or transient vendor’s license application must include:
- Applicant’s name
- Each place of business in the county where the applicant will make retail sales
- Nature of the business
- All other information the tax commissioner may reasonably require
The vendor’s license fee is due when the application is submitted.
The Department of Taxation views vendor’s or transient vendor’s license applications, either submitted on paper or through the Ohio Business Gateway, as complete when we receive the full application containing all information requested on the form, as well as the correct application fee.
We will not accept partial applications that do not contain all the required information, or applications with the incorrect filing fee. We consider the vendor’s license application fee in effect at the time the full application is received to be the correct filing fee.
