New Electronic Filing Requirement for IT 501s and SD 101s
Starting December 9, 2024, the Department of Taxation is launched a new system for filing and paying taxes: OH|TAX eServices. Employers will use this system to file and pay their Ohio employer withholding and school district withholding taxes. You can access OH|TAX eServices through the Ohio Business Gateway.
Here are some key points to know:
-
Electronic Filing Required: All returns and payments must be submitted electronically unless you have an approved "opt out."
-
No Paper Checks: When filing through OH|TAX eServices, you must include an electronic payment. You cannot send a paper check later. However, you can schedule your payment for a future date (up to the due date).
-
No Tax Withheld? No Filing Needed: If you did not deduct or withhold any Ohio or school district tax for a specific period, you do not need to file an IT 501 or SD 101 for that period. The system only processes these forms when a payment is included.
We appreciate your patience as we work to improve your filing experience.
