JANUARY PROGRAM COORDINATOR MEETUP SCHEDULED
Please join us for the next Program Coordinator (PC) meetup scheduled for 1-2 p.m. on January 21.
PC meetups are held on the third Tuesday of each month through May, except for February when we will be holding our semi-annual PC Regional Network meetings. If you registered for the meetups earlier this school year, you do not need to register again. You will receive a meeting access email a few days before the meeting. If you have never registered and would like to attend, please register here.
REGISTRATION OPEN FOR FEBRUARY RESIDENT EDUCATOR PROGRAM COORDINATOR VIRTUAL REGIONAL NETWORK MEETINGS
Registration is now open for the February Resident Educator Program Coordinator Virtual Regional Network meetings. The State Board of Education is hosting three (virtual) regional meetings to bring program coordinators together to engage with colleagues, share insights and strategies for program implementation, and hear from the Resident Educator Program staff. Participants can choose to attend ONE of the following meeting dates:
- February 18, 2025: Northern region, 9-11:30 a.m.
- February 20, 2025: Central region, 9-11:30 a.m.
- February 26, 2025: Southern region, 1-3:30 p.m.
Three dates were scheduled to allow for smaller numbers of participants per meeting. Educators who are unable to attend on the scheduled dates for their regions may register for a different date. The same content will be shared at all three meetings. Register here by February 12. Registered participants will receive an email containing meeting access information one week prior to the meeting date. No confirmation will be generated during registration. Email questions to REProgram@SBOE.ohio.gov.
INTERIM RESIDENT EDUCATOR LICENSE
The new Interim Resident Educator license will be available for the 2025-2026 school year. This license will be issued only at the request of the superintendent or chief administrator of the school, district, or educational service center to candidates who have completed an approved Ohio teacher preparation program but not yet successfully completed exam requirements for standard Resident Educator licensure. This renewable one-year license will be valid in only the employing Ohio school or district that requests it for eligible candidates. Review eligibility requirements on the Interim Resident Educator License webpage. Email questions to educator.licensure@sboe.ohio.gov.
DEADLINE FOR LATE RESA REGISTRATIONS
The deadline to accept late resident educator registrations in CORE for candidates taking the RESA is March 6, 2025. Email questions to REProgram@sboe.ohio.gov.
NEW MENTOR TRAININGS FOR 2025-2026 BEGIN IN SPRING
All new mentors must successfully complete the Mentor Academy training to become certified state mentors. Training events scheduled by local Educational Service Centers (ESCs) are listed in STARS. New events are added regularly. Registration fees are required and vary by location. Training is provided both in-person and virtually. Read the registration details in STARS for locations and dates and be sure to follow the directions for the virtual training registration. Virtual training includes two required components: synchronous and asynchronous. Dates for virtual synchronous sessions are listed in the registration information. Contact the ESC directly with any questions. All mentor training occurs from March to December 1, 2025.
RESA SCORES FOR 2024-2025
RESA scores are uploaded monthly to CORE. Resident educators in Year 2 cannot apply to advance to the professional license until they have completed 120 days of teaching in their area of licensure AND their program coordinator marks them as having successfully completed the year in CORE. The completion criteria window will open March 1, 2025, for program coordinators to enter completion criteria for the 2024-2025 school year. This window will close on May 31, 2025.
RESA SUBMISSION DEADLINE
The deadline for submitting the RESA for the 2024-2025 school year is April 4, 2025. For more information on the RESA, please review the 2024-2025 Ohio RESA Guidebook, which is located under the Resources tab on the https://www.ohioresa.com website.
LOGGING IN TO OHIORESA.COM FOR RESA CANDIDATES
Please note that if a resident educator receives a message indicating they are not registered for the RESA when they log in to ohioresa.com, they should first check with their program coordinator to make sure they are correctly registered in CORE. If they are correctly registered in CORE, then they should email REProgram@sboe.ohio.gov to verify TeachForward has received the update regarding the resident educator’s registration for the RESA. Each month a list of resident educators registered for the RESA (the eligibility file) is sent to TeachForward, the vendor for the RESA. December 12 is the most recent date the eligibility file was sent. See below for the remaining dates eligibility files will be sent to TeachForward.
- Thursday, January 16
- Thursday, February 13
- Thursday, March 13
- Thursday, March 27
- Thursday, April 24
If a resident educator is registered after the eligibility file is sent, then TeachForward will not have that information until the following month. If the resident educator was registered after an eligibility file was sent, please allow 3-5 business days after the next eligibility file is sent for processing before having the resident educator log in to ohioresa.com. If it has been over a month since the resident educator was registered in CORE, there may be an issue with TeachForward, and the resident educator should email support@teachforward.com.
