OPSB authorizes construction of Wood County power plant
COLUMBUS, OHIO (Feb. 3, 2026) - The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) approved the construction of a 350 megawatt (MW) natural gas fired electric generation facility in Wood County. The Apollo Power Generation Facility will operate “behind-the-meter” to serve the electric load of an adjacent data center and will not be physically connected to the electric power grid.
Will-Power OH, LLC will construct and operate the power plant near the intersection of Mercer Road and Middleton Pike in Middleton Township. The facility will include approximately 120 MW of additional battery energy storage system capacity. Will-Power OH must adhere to 34 conditions designed to minimize potential impacts during the construction and operation of the facility.
Liames, LLC will consume the power generated by the power plant. Liames is currently constructing a data center campus adjacent to the Apollo Power Generation Facility site.
More information regarding the Apollo facility and maps of the project area are available online at OPSB.ohio.gov by searching case 25-973-EL-BGN. The OPSB hosts an online mapping tool that illustrates the location of the facility and other approved and pending natural gas fired generation projects in Ohio.
