 Keeping cool during the hot summer months can be more than a matter of comfort. The Summer Crisis Program, which runs July 1 - Sept. 30, can assist eligible households with a one-time payment to keep up with their electric bill, make air conditioner repairs or purchase cooling units.
PUCO approves AEP Ohio's reliability standards
The PUCO has approved an unopposed settlement agreement requiring AEP Ohio to adopt stronger reliability standards.
“The new standards we approve today will improve service reliability and ensure that the impact and duration of electric outages for AEP’s customers are minimized,” said PUCO Chair Jenifer French.
The new reliability standards are scheduled to begin January 2025 and will extend until June 1, 2029.

PUCO extends Presrite, Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company electricity agreement
The PUCO has authorized a rate agreement between Presrite Corporation and The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company (CEI), allowing the company to continue their existing reasonable arrangement.
“Load reduction programs, like the one approved today, can improve grid reliability and stability,” said PUCO Commissioner Lawrence Friedeman.

OPSB schedules public hearing about proposed transmission line in Preble County
The Ohio Power Siting Board scheduled a public hearing about AES Ohio's proposed transmission line project in Preble County.
The hearing will take place Sept. 10, 2024, at 6 p.m. in New Paris, Ohio.

PUCO approves over $1 million in upgrades to 4 rail crossings in 4 counties
On July 10, the PUCO approved safety upgrades at rail crossings in Clinton, Franklin, Summit and Wayne counties. Those crossings will be improved with flashing lights, gates, circuitry upgrades or other safety enhancements.
