PUCO approves sale of Dominion Energy Ohio
The PUCO has approved the joint notice of Dominion Energy, Inc. and Enbridge Elephant Holdings, LLC regarding Enbridge’s purchase of Dominion Energy Ohio.
The Commission finds that, under Enbridge’s ownership, Dominion Energy Ohio will continue to have the managerial, technical and financial capability to provide safe, reasonably-priced and adequate natural gas to Ohio customers and that customers of Dominion Energy Ohio will continue to receive uninterrupted natural gas service. Enbridge will not recover any costs of the transaction from customers.

PUCO approves waste heat facility arrangement between University of Dayton, Tallgrass Energy, AES Ohio
This month, the PUCO approved an electricity arrangement between the University of Dayton, Tallgrass Dayton Community Power and AES Ohio.
Tallgrass will own and operate a waste heat recovery system connected to an existing natural gas compression site alongside a major interstate natural gas pipeline. AES Ohio will purchase the electricity generated from the facility’s waste heat and use it to serve the electric load for the University of Dayton. The facility is expected to be online in 2025.
The arrangement will allow the university to create a more sustainable campus and community.

Application period open for PUCO hazardous materials training grants
The application period for hazardous materials training grants is now open! Through the annual hazardous materials training grant program, educational institutions and local governments across Ohio are awarded grants for training to best respond to incidents related to hazardous materials. In 2023, the PUCO authorized a total of $800,000 to 21 local governments and educational institutions.
Applications will be accepted until May 31, 2024.

OPSB approves Oak Run Solar Project in Madison County
The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) today authorized Oak Run Solar Project, LLC to construct an 800 megawatt (MW) solar-powered electric generation facility, two 3.5-mile long transmission lines, and a 300 MW battery energy storage facility in Monroe, Somerford, and Deercreek townships in Madison County.
The OPSB approved 46 conditions agreed upon by Oak Run Solar Project, the OPSB staff, and intervenors. Oak Run Solar Project must adhere to these conditions to minimize and mitigate potential impacts during the construction and operation of the facility.
Oak Run Solar Project plans to implement an agrivoltaic program for planting crops and grazing livestock in the rows between solar panels and along the perimeter of the project. The agrivoltaic program will be the nation’s largest and a first of its kind utility-scale solar energy plan for livestock grazing and row crops.

The PUCO issues an annual Underground Technical Committee report of its damage prevention each fiscal year in accordance with to Ohio Revised Code.

The PUCO teamed up with the Ohio EPA and the Ohio Department of Insurance to remind everyone to take 10 minutes to fix leaks in their home.
Leaking or burst water fixtures and pipes can also cause serious damage to a property and its contents.
