PUCO grants stay in FirstEnergy / HB 6 investigations
On August 24, the PUCO granted a request by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio to stay its four ongoing investigations related to FirstEnergy’s Ohio utilities and the passage of HB6.
The entry stays the PUCO’s four investigations for a period of six months.

PUCO seeks comments on IIJA funding opportunities
The PUCO held a public hearing on Aug. 24 regarding potential funding opportunities for electric grid resilience created by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

The IIJA also amended the federal Public Utility Regulatory Policy Act of 1978 to add standards related to demand response and electric vehicle charging programs. The PUCO is seeking comments on this and any other potential IIJA funding opportunity by September 12.

FY2022 annual report published
Each fiscal year, the PUCO issues a report in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 149.01. Each report contains financial and legal information as well as estimated energy needs.
The FY2022 annual report was published on August 1.

PUCO celebrates 811 Day
August 11th was National 811 Day! PUCO Chair French reminded everyone to call 811 a few days before any digging project.
Ohio811 also celebrated their 50th anniversary this month. Congratulations to them for 50 years of protecting Ohioans and our underground utilities.

PUCO Chair Jenifer French was honored to give remarks at ReliabilityFirst's Board of Directors meeting on August 25.
ReliabilityFirst is is one of the six FERC-approved regional entities responsible for ensuring the reliability of the electric grid.

Summer Crisis Program runs until Sept. 30
The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program (SCP) provides eligible Ohioans assistance with electric bills, central air conditioning repairs, and air conditioning unit or fan purchases.
The program runs from July 1, 2022 through Sept. 30, 2022.
Eligible participants receive a one-time payment of up to $500 for customers of PUCO-regulated utilities or $800 for unregulated utilities.
