The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio's newest 20-year long term energy forecast is now available.

The long term energy forecast is published every three years, and presents year-by-year forecasts of the prevailing energy, economic and demographic trends in the United States of America, Ohio and the utility service areas in Ohio over a 20-year period.

The PUCO Transportation Department works with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) to keep Ohio's roadways safe through motor carrier inspections and enforcement.

Utility name changes

Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio is now CenterPoint Energy Ohio

In April of 2018, CenterPoint Energy and Vectren announced a definitive merger agreement to form a leading energy delivery, infrastructure and services company serving more than 7 million customers across the United States. This agreement took effect early this year, which means Vectren and its subsidiaries are now part of the CenterPoint Energy family of companies. 

Current customers of Vectren do not need to do anything as there will be no disruption in service. For more information, please visit CenterPoint Energy Ohio's website here.

Dayton Power & Light is now AES Ohio

In February 2021, the Dayton Power & Light (DP&L) Company, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, announced its new name and brand identity as AES Ohio.

Cost of Capital Forum

The Commission has a long-standing policy of using the costs of equity and debt capital, capital structures, and weighted costs of capital determined from a public utility’s most recent base rate proceeding in order to establish and adjust rates other than base rates in between base rate proceedings.

The Commission will be hosting an open forum regarding this utility cost of capital and capital structure on June 22. Interested stakeholders can submit comments and may present at the forum.

Emergency Broadband Benefit Program

Eligible households can now apply for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Emergency Broadband Benefit Program.

The program provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households.

Assistance available for utility bills

Governor Mike DeWine has signed House Bill 167 that allocates $465 million of funding for Ohioans who qualify as low-income. Those households can receive assistance with rent, mortgage or utilities through their local Community Action Agency.

Ohioans 18 and older who have received a received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine can enter to win one of five $1 million prizes.

Ohioans who would like to enter the drawings must opt-in by visiting ohiovaxamillion.com or by calling the Ohio Department of Health Call Center at 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833-427-5634) between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily. Winners will be announced each Wednesday, starting May 26.
