ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Drug charges were filed against a 35-year-old man from Centreville, VA following a traffic stop in Belmont County. During the traffic stop, troopers seized 5.6 pounds of cocaine worth approximately $304,000.
On June 4, at approximately 1:26 p.m., troopers stopped with a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox with Virginia registration that was disabled on state Route 331. Drug paraphernalia was observed in plain view. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and revealed the contraband.
The driver, Charlie Chavarria, 35, Centreville, VA, was incarcerated at the Belmont County Jail and charged with possession of drugs, a first-degree felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor and operating a vehicle impaired.
