COLUMBUS – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against a California man after a traffic stop in Summit County. During the traffic stop, troopers seized 508 grams of cocaine and 2 pounds of marijuana worth approximately $45,775.
On February 21, at 10:51 a.m., troopers stopped a 2020 Chevrolet Impala with Michigan registration for a following-too-close violation on the Ohio Turnpike. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed the contraband.
The driver, Edward L. Hanserd, 60, Detroit, was incarcerated in the Summit County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in cocaine, both first-degree felonies and possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony.
If convicted, he could face up to 23 years in prison and up to a $42,500 fine.
