COLUMBUS – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against an Ohio man after a traffic stop in Brown County. During the traffic stop, troopers seized a .22 long rifle, a 20 gauge shotgun, several pieces of drug paraphernalia, 1,050 grams of marijuana and 3 grams of methamphetamine worth approximately $10,900.
On May 17, at 3:16 a.m., troopers stopped a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer with Ohio registration for a loud exhaust violation on U.S. 68. While interacting with the driver, troopers detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed a rifle in plain view. A probable cause search revealed the contraband.
The driver, Ryan Mumaw, 27, West Unity, was incarcerated in the Brown County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana and possession of methamphetamine, all third-degree felonies; and improper handling of firearms, a fourth-degree felony.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $35,000 fine.
