Troopers seize $16,360 worth of ecstasy pills and marijuana in Shelby County

COLUMBUS – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against a Kentucky man after a traffic stop in Shelby County. During the traffic stop, troopers seized 1,000 ecstasy pills and 60 grams of marijuana worth approximately $16,360.

On February 14, at 10:49 a.m., troopers stopped a rented 2015 Jeep Cherokee with Kentucky registration for a speed violation on Interstate 75. While interacting with the occupants, troopers detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed the contraband.

The driver, Timothy Massey, 27, and passenger, Travis Kordell, 26, both from Louisville, were incarcerated in the Shelby County Jail and charged with possession of drugs, a first-degree felony; possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony; and possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor.

If convicted, each could face up to 12 years in prison and up to a $22,500 fine.
