Columbus - The Patrol’s 165th Academy Class graduated today after 26 weeks of intense training. Remarks were provided by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Ohio Department of Public Safety Director Thomas J. Strickrath and Colonel Richard S. Fambro, Patrol Superintendent. The Oath of Office was issued by Judge Peter B. Abele, Fourth District, Court of Appeals.

“Today you begin your service to one of the finest law enforcement institutions in the world,” said Governor Mike DeWine during today’s graduation ceremony. “As troopers, you have honorably and courageously chosen to put your lives on the line for the safety of our communities and the safety of families on our highways. You are joining the ranks of not just troopers but also mothers and fathers, community leaders, and heroes.”

Courses completed by the 165th class included; crash investigation, criminal and traffic law, detection of impaired drivers, firearms, physical fitness, self-defense, and emergency vehicle operations.

Trooper Gage B. Patterson, Kitts Hill, was selected as class speaker and thanked the Academy and cadet family members for being supportive during their training.

Three graduates received special honors for top performance in various fields of study at the Training Academy. The honorees were:
