LORAIN – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed
felony drug charges against an Ohio man after a traffic stop in Lorain County. During
the traffic stop, troopers seized a Taurus 9mm handgun and 58 grams of methamphetamine
valued at approximately $4,582.
On September 28, 2018, at 6:36 p.m., troopers
stopped a rented 2017 Jeep Cherokee with South Carolina registration for a speed
violation on U.S. 6. During interaction with the driver, troopers detected an
odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed
the contraband and the handgun.
The driver, Tyrell A. Allgood, 30, of Lorain, was
incarcerated in the Lorain County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking
in methamphetamine, both second-degree felonies; and carrying concealed weapon,
a fourth-degree felony.
If convicted, he could face up to 17 years in prison
and up to a $35,000 fine.
