(ATHENS) – Agents with the Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU) charged
46 individuals during the annual Jamboree in the Hills music festival in
Morristown July 18 - 22.
Most of the charges during
the four-day enforcement were for underage alcohol possession and consumption.
Other charges filed included drug abuse, marijuana, certain acts prohibited –
fictitious identification, furnishing alcohol to underage individuals and
disorderly conduct with persistence.
Agents also conducted a
trace-back investigation after troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol
issued a summons to a 20-year-old male driver during a traffic stop for
possession of beer while being a person under 21. Agents traced the sale of
alcohol to a convenience store in St. Clairsville. Agents administratively
charged the Sober Systems, LLC., also known as Ohio Valley Plaza Exxon, 50708
National Road, for sale and/or furnishing alcohol to a person under 21. Agents
charged Michael L. Selmon, 38, of St. Clairsville, with sale and/or furnishing
alcohol to a person under 21.
All criminal charges will
be heard in the Belmont County Western Division Court. The administrative case against
Sober Systems, LLC., will be presented to the Ohio Liquor Control Commission at
a later date. Possible administrative penalties include fines, suspensions, or
revocation of the liquor permit.
