OIU administratively charged two Jefferson County liquor permits for illegal gambling

(Canton) – Agents with the Ohio Investigative Unit executed search warrants on Wednesday at two Jefferson County liquor permit premises for illegal gambling violations.

Agents charged Local 150, LLC., 244 Smithfield Street, in Dillonvale, with four counts of the following charges:

  • Acquire, possess, control or operate a gambling device
  • Electronic video gambling device
  • Game of chance, for profit or scheme of chance
  • Operating a gambling house
  • Recklessly permitting public gaming

Agents seized two electronic video gambling machines and $1,786 in U.S. currency. 

Administrative charges were also filed at AL Post 0557 Stevens Christian, 1212 Two Ridge Road, in Wintersville, for three counts of the following charges:

  • Acquire, possess, control or operate a gambling device
  • Electronic video gambling device
  • Game of chance, for profit or scheme of chance
  • Operating a gambling house
  • Recklessly permitting public gaming

The liquor permit was also charged with two counts of sale of beer or intoxicating liquor to a non-member. Agents seized four electronic video gambling machines and $3,685 in U.S. currency. 

Criminal charges are pending. The administrative case against the liquor permit will be presented to the Ohio Liquor Control Commission at a later date. Possible administrative penalties include fines, suspensions, or revocation of the liquor permit.
