Number of Suicide Deaths in Ohio Declines for the First Time in Three Years
The number of suicide deaths in Ohio has declined for the first time in three years, according to the 2023 Ohio Suicide Report, which was released today at a press conference held by the Ohio Department of Health. Director LeeAnne Cornyn joined ODH Director Bruce Vanderhoff, M.D., at the press conference this morning to discuss the report.

Electrical Work This Weekend to Affect SOT Garage Availability
This coming weekend, an electrical distribution panel upgrade will be performed on floors B1 and B2. Because of the outage, parking will not be available in the Rhodes Tower garage over the weekend since there will be no lighting and the garage access controls will be inoperative from the power outage. In addition, there will be no access to the building via the pedestrian tunnel from the Statehouse garage.
Upcoming Electric Upgrades to Impact 11th, 27th, and 36th Floors
36th Floor to be Impacted Next Weekend
An electrical distribution panel upgrade will be performed on floors 11, 27, and 36 during February and March. This work requires turning off the electricity for these floors for up to 48 hours while the panels are replaced.
Prior to the work, all electrical equipment on the affected floors must be powered down and all perishable items must be removed from refrigerators.
The outages will occur on the following dates:
- Saturday, Feb. 1: 36th Floor
- Saturday, Feb. 15: 27th Floor
- Saturday, March 29: 11th Floor

New Riffe Gallery Exhibit Highlights Works of 16 Ohioans
A new exhibit featuring the works of 16 Ohioans will be on display at the Riffe Center Gallery located on the main level of the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts beginning this weekend through April 4. The exhibit, entitled It's an Honor to be Here, is sponsored by the Ohio Arts Council.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. An opening reception with an opportunity to meet the exhibiting artists will be held Saturday from 2-4 p.m.
