Ohio Medicaid Announces Phase 2 Rollout of the Next Generation MyCare Ohio Program on April 1
COLUMBUS, Ohio –The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is implementing the Phase 2 rollout of the Next Generation MyCare program effective April 1. In addition to the 29 counties that went live on January 1, the program will also be available in Ashtabula, Defiance, Erie, Fairfield, Fayette, Henry, Licking, Paulding, Sandusky, Williams counties.
The Next Generation MyCare program advances Ohio’s efforts to deliver coordinated, person-centered care for more than 250,000 Ohioans eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare. It’s designed to reduce administrative complexity and ensure individuals can more easily access preventive care, emergency services, behavioral health care, long-term services and supports, and community-based resources.
Phase 2 of the Next Generation MyCare program includes additional supports to improve member experience and outcomes including:
- Enhanced behavioral health service options
- Expanded transportation and mobility supports
- Strengthened long-term care and community-based living assistance
Under the Next Generation MyCare program, ODM has selected four participating health plans. Three of these plans are available statewide, and all plans will coordinate both Medicare and Medicaid benefits for enrolled members.

Buckeye Health Plan is not available for new members in 2026. Phase 2 will extend services through these plans with statewide expansion planned to be phased in throughout the remainder of the year.
