House Ways and Means Committee Update
As Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished this General Assembly.
So far, we’ve held 40 committee meetings, heard nearly 50 hours of testimony, and reviewed 60 different bills, including the passage of Ohio’s biggest property tax reform in over 100 years.
I’m excited to get back to work with my colleagues and continue building on this progress for the people of Ohio!
End E-Check in Northeast Ohio
The public comment period to end E-Check in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit Counties is currently open!
For far too long, we in the seven counties of Northeast Ohio have been unfairly penalized. Now that we are in attainment for air quality, I am hopeful that the U.S. EPA will allow us to finally end this regulation.
Individuals interested in providing their opinions can either submit their comments online here or attend the public hearing. Details of the public hearing are as follows:
Public Hearing Meeting: Thursday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. Cuyahoga County Library, Mayfield Branch 500 Som Center Rd., Mayfield, Ohio 44143
Individuals interested in providing testimony must RSVP to the Ohio EPA at 614.644.2160 or mary.mccarron@epa.ohio.gov

Blossom Care Center
I met with residents and staff at Blossom Care Center, which specializes in skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, and memory care for older Ohioans.
I had the opportunity to speak with a few residents who shared their perspectives on matters affecting their daily lives and well-being.
Thank you for having me!
Guest Lecture at the University of Akron
I was honored to be back on campus and give guest lectures in two classes at the University of Akron.
The first class was ‘Politics in the Criminal Justice System,’ taught by Professor Hufgard, and the second was “State and Local Politics,” taught by Professor Caraboolad.
I spoke with students and answered their many insightful questions.

American Cross Blood Drive
Giving back to others has always been important to me. Over the course of my life, I’ve donated 86 usable pints of blood, helping make a difference for patients and families in need.
Blood donations are a simple but effective way to save lives, and I encourage others who are able to consider donating. You can sign up for a blood drive here.
Tuskegee Airman at Richfield Library
I recently attended an event with Mayor Wheeler at Richfield Library, hosted by the Celtic Club, to honor the dedication and sacrifices of the Tuskegee Airmen.
The Tuskegee Airmen are known as the first African American military aviators in U.S. History. They served during World War II.
Mark Pawuk, President of Empaco Equipment & Two-Time National Champion
I was honored to commend Mark Pawuk, President of Empaco Equipment in Richfield, as a two-time national champion American Drag Racer.
He is the National Hot Rod Association 2024 and 2025 factory stock champion. He and his son Kyle also won the Texas Motorplex Nationals just last week.
Congrats, Mark and Kyle!
Thank you for your continued trust and support as we work to strengthen our communities, support our students, and honor the values that have shaped our state and nation. If you ever need assistance with a state issue or have feedback on legislative matters, please reach out to my office.
