90 Day Gas Tax Holiday
I voted in support of a legislative effort that will temporarily suspend Ohio’s State Gas Tax for 90 days, providing real relief to Ohioans as fuel costs continue to rise.
This tax holiday began on October 4th, providing Ohioans with $725 million in relief leading into the holiday season. Importantly, these savings will be achieved while providing uninterrupted access to funds for state and local road maintenance and construction.
This is a commonsense solution that immediately sends more dollars back into the pockets of Ohioans.
This initiative is part of the Ohio House Republicans’ broader efforts to lower the cost of everyday life for Ohioans. House Republicans have championed several pieces of legislation aimed at providing savings you can see since the beginning of the General Assembly, including cutting state income taxes with a new flat rate, passing a slate of bills to provide more than $4 billion in property tax relief over the next three years, expanding access to publicly funded child care and preschool, and renewing the expanded summer sales tax holiday.
Nature Conservancy Agreement
I’m proud to announce that the Nature Conservancy has agreed to a 10-year contract, with renewal options, to pay property taxes on the land it owns in Adams County.
The Nature Conservancy owns more than 20,000 acres of land in Adams County, representing nearly $10.9 million in unimproved property, yet currently pays very little, if any, property tax. This shifts the property tax burden onto other property owners and landowners.
Under this agreement, local governments will receive additional revenue to maintain and pave roads and provide essential services, including fire protection and EMS.
This issue has gone on for far too long, and I’m proud of the people of Adams County who brought the issue forward and spoke up. When nonprofits hold vast amounts of land, they have a responsibility to play their part to sustain the very communities that surround and support them.
I've led the way on this issue at the Statehouse through House Bill 540. This legislation would require conservation organizations that own over 15,000 acres in a single county to pay back 2.5 percent of unimproved land value to local governments, aligning with standards under which the Ohio Department of Natural Resources operates with state parks.
Brown County Fair Parade
Things got a little wild on Brown County's west side.
Made the trip to Georgetown for the Brown County Fair Parade… and apparently found my new security detail! I love going to the county fair, catching up with constituents, and of course, fun fair food!
Adams County Welcome Center Grand Opening

Adams County is one of the most beautiful and unique places in Ohio, and we welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors to our region every year.
Now, many of those visitors have a place to start.
There has been a tremendous amount of hard work over the years by local leaders, community members, and everyone who believed in this project. I was honored to support their efforts by helping secure $350,000 in the state capital budget to help make this project a reality.
Tourism is one of Adams County’s greatest strengths, and investing in tourism means investing in our local communities, small businesses, and economy.
Shawnee State Bear 5K Run

Had a blast back at my alma mater, Shawnee State University, helping count down to this year’s Bear Run!
Always great to be back on campus, see some old friends, and support a great Shawnee State tradition. Go Bears!
Team Tressel Fitness Challenge Visits New Boston Schools
Fun day at New Boston Schools with Lt. Gov. Coach Tressel and the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge!
It was great seeing students get active, have fun, and learn about the importance of healthy habits. Students worked through five key areas - cardio, strength, flexibility, nutrition, and sleep - as they challenged themselves to reach Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels.
Athletes from Shawnee State University were also there to encourage and participate with the students.
River Days Parade
Had a great time walking in the River Days Parade and talking with so many people from our community!
The 90th District has one of the strongest labor traditions in Ohio, with more union halls per capita than almost any district in the state.
Restoring the Old Duduit Family Cemetery

I am in the process of helping secure resources to restore the old Duduit family cemetery in Franklin Furnace. This historic cemetery was founded in 1796 as part of the French 500 Settlement by Guillaum & Agnes Duduit.
Shawnee Tribe Visits Shawnee State University

The Shawnee Tribe recently visited Shawnee State University, and I got meet some of the tribe members as they walked around campus.
While they were here, I shared with them that I helped secure historic funding, $31.5 million, through Ohio's Capital Budget Bill. $28.5 million will be used to renovate Massie Hall and the University Library, ensuring students have access to high-quality learning environments. The remaining funding will be used for basic renovations throughout the campus.
