I am greatly honored to represent Ohio's 80th House District, covering Miami and southern Darke counties. If you are ever in Columbus, please feel free to call and schedule a visit at The People's Office of District 80.
We Will Never Forget
Today marks 25 years since our great nation was attacked. On this day, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost and the numerous families changed forever.
May we remember those we lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and hold close the families and loved ones who continue to carry their memory.
We will never forget.
Introducing: Stop Flock Abuse
My 16th piece of legislation
This week, I introduced my sixteenth bill in this General Assembly – the Stop Flock Abuse Act.
Numerous concerns surround the use of automatic license plate readers (FLOCK cameras and others). None of those are more troubling than the numerous cases reported of private citizens who have been stalked by law enforcement personnel wrongfully accessing data to track individuals maliciously. This must be stopped!
A number of law enforcement officers requested that I introduce this bill, making it a felony charge for accessing data outside of officially authorized investigations.
House Bill 507- Legislation Targeting Human Traffickers
I am a joint sponsor for House Bill 507, legislation to strengthen Ohio’s human trafficking laws.
House Bill 507 prohibits individuals from receiving or acquiring money or anything of value when they know those proceeds were earned through sexual activity for hire or as a result of human trafficking. The offense applies when a person profits from, conceals, collects on behalf of a third party, or uses those proceeds to encourage or facilitate criminal activity. Additionally, the bill makes clear that a prostitute receiving proceeds from their own activity is not subject to the offense.
Under the bill, violations are classified as a third-degree felony, with enhanced second-degree felony penalties when the proceeds involve a minor under 18. It also adds the offense to Ohio’s Corrupt Activities Law, giving prosecutors stronger tools to target organized criminal networks that profit from exploitation.
House Bill 507 closes loopholes that have allowed bad actors to profit from exploitation. By strengthening our laws, we are sending a clear message that those who benefit from prostitution and human trafficking will be held accountable.
The bill now advances to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
Darke County Farmers: Making Ohio Energy Dominant
My visit to Anderson's ethanol plant in Greenville was eye-opening. Ohio farmers not only feed the world, but they fuel it too.
This plant turns corn into fuel, providing farmers with a valuable market and consumers with more affordable prices at the pump. Ohio is truly the Heart of it All!
