Brown County Farm Bureau and Brown County Soil and Water Conservation District Meeting
Representative Bird had a great time discussing Ohio’s Agriculture priorities with Ohio's FFA President, Austin Manning, at the combined Brown County Farm Bureau and Brown County Soil and Water Conservation District meeting last night in Georgetown, Ohio.
House Bill 647 - Childcare Integrity Legislation
Rep. Bird voted in support of House Bill 647- legislation to uphold the integrity of state-funded childcare in Ohio.
Key provisions of House Bill 647 are as follows:
- Gives authority to the Ohio Attorney General to investigate and extends the ability to prosecute any publicly funded childcare program suspected of fraud
- Allows the Department of Children and Youth (DCY) to immediately suspend a license and provider agreement when evidence demonstrates, and the Department has corresponding reasons to suspect, fraud
In addition to potentially saving the publicly funded child care program tens of millions of dollars, Sub. HB 647 ensures that Ohio has the tools necessary to stop public funds from going out the door the moment that there is evidence suggesting potential fraudulent activity.
Sub. HB 647 creates a system in which no criminal actor would be overlooked by a local prosecutor, empowering the office of the Attorney General to investigate and pursue legal action against fraudulent providers on behalf of the state.
The legislation awaits further consideration in the Ohio Senate.
Father & Son
Rep. Bird and his dad sat down together this week to reflect on great memories and discuss what matters most in life. He is thankful to still have his father around and share these moments with him.
