It is a true honor to be the first female in House history to serve in this role, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass sound legislation. Legislative Update
SIGNED: House Bill 455 - Legislation to Modernize Ohio's Education Code
I'm pleased to share that Governor DeWine recently signed House Bill 455, legislation to modernize Ohio’s education code by eliminating outdated educator requirements and reducing administrative burden to ensure teachers can devote more time to delivering high-quality instruction to Ohio students.
This legislation empowers our educators to prioritize what matters most: providing quality instruction to their students.
I sponsored the legislation alongside State Representative Adam Bird.
House Bill 644 - Bill to Improve Efficiency of Public Colleges and Support Student Success
The House also passed House Bill 644, legislation to improve the efficiency of public colleges in Ohio by incentivizing the adoption of evidence-based practices proven to help students succeed.
This bill is about accountability, innovation, and results. It rewards what works, encourages collaboration, and ultimately helps more Ohio students earn the degrees and credentials that lead to opportunity and economic mobility.
This legislation was inspired by Lorain County Community College’s Students Accelerating in Learning (SAIL) program and aims to address the high number of college students who begin their degrees but never complete them. SAIL combines financial, academic, and career-planning support for full-time students to help ensure their success.
This bill awaits consideration in the Ohio Senate.
