Keynote Presentation at the Buckingham, Doolittle, and Burroughs SALT (State and Local Taxes) Conference
I recently delivered the keynote presentation at the Buckingham, Doolittle, and Burroughs SALT (State and Local Taxes) Conference. My presentation mainly focused on property tax relief, IRC conformity changes, the state operating budget, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and pending legislation before the Ohio House Ways and Means Committee.
I also discussed Ohio Sales & Use Tax updates and planning opportunities, personal income tax and pass-through entity updates, and more!
Regina Health Center Meeting
I recently took a tour of the Regina Health Center in Richfield and met with their leadership team. We discussed recent facility upgrades, the state operating budget, and pending legislation in the health and sging space! Additionally, I met with Sister Judith Ann Karam, who is the leader of the Sisters of Charity (pictured below).
Ohioans of all ages deserve the best care. Regina is a five-star skilled nursing facility housing over 400 residents, some of whom are nuns and aging clergy members. Regina Health Center provides excellence in health care and supportive services. They are recognized as a center that promotes wellness, holistic health care, education, and research in an atmosphere that reflects the core values of spirituality and shared community life. It's so wonderful to see facilities like this that have employees who graciously take care of the aging population!
Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce Roundtable
The Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce has been hosting a series of events designed to provide small business owners with insights on various activities, programs, and initiatives that impact the business community. I recently keynoted one of their roundtable discussions to talk about the legislature's role in our state, what we do, and how our work can directly impact & benefit the business community.
Jan Weber Social Center Ribbon Cutting
I was pleased to attend the ribbon-cutting event for the Jan Weber Social Center in Richfield, which was previously named the Richfield Senior Center. Community spaces like the Jan Weber Social Center play an important role in supporting older Ohioans by fostering connection, wellness, and lifelong engagement. Jan, who turned 99 years old the next day, has been a tireless volunteer for Richfield seniors
Burning River Endurance Run and Relay
I recently attended the Burning River Endurance Run and Relay, where I presented a commendation to Western Reserve Racing, honoring their 20th anniversary of this challenging race.
It's an exciting 100-mile, 50-mile, and Marathon solo run and 100-mile relay in Northeast Ohio. The race travels through several of the region's most scenic areas, including the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Summit Metro Parks. My son, Greg, competed in the race, completing 50 grueling miles in an impressive 10 hours and 47 minutes! I got to see firsthand the dedication, perseverance, and determination required to complete this challenging event. Congratulations to Greg and all of the other competitors! Well done!
All-American Soap Box Derby World Championships
I was honored to support the Soap Box Derby at their World Championship Event, where six world champions were crowned. I championed House Bill 423 of the 134th General Assembly, which designated the All-American Soap Box Derby as Ohio’s official gravity racing program. I also voted to appropriate over a million dollars to the International Soap Box Derby through Ohio's State Operating Budget! I was joined by Mr. Derby, Jeff Iula, of Cuyahoga Falls.
Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) Event with Senator Jon Husted
I recently attended a meeting hosted by the Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) with Senator Jon Husted, where we discussed several issues affecting active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. I proudly support Ohio's veterans and all those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our nation's freedom!
Thank you for your continued trust and support as we work to strengthen our communities, support our students, and honor the values that have shaped our state and nation. If you ever need assistance with a state issue or have feedback on legislative matters, please reach out to my office.
