I am greatly honored to represent Ohio's 80th House District, covering Miami and southern Darke counties. If you are ever in Columbus, please feel free to call and schedule a visit at The People's Office of District 80.
Protecting Ohio's Children
I am a co-sponsor of House Bill 84 – the Innocence Act – legislation that will help protect Ohio children from accessing online materials that are obscene or harmful to juveniles.
The Innocence Act aims to shield Ohio’s youth from being exposed to adult content by requiring any entity that publishes obscene or harmful content online to verify the age of its users. The bill also establishes criminal penalties for deepfake pornography where a person’s image or likeness is used in sexual imagery or videos without their consent, allowing prosecutors to bring charges against anyone who superimposes another person’s likeness into sexually explicit content.
If enacted, House Bill 84 would do the following:
- Require any entity that sells, delivers, furnishes, disseminates, provides, exhibits, or presents any material or performance that is obscene or harmful to juveniles to perform a geolocation check on all users
- Require a covered entity to submit an affidavit to the Attorney General stating its compliance with these age verification requirements
- Allow the Attorney General to investigate reasonable allegations of violation of the age verification requirements, and endows the Attorney General with exclusive enforcement authority for these age verification requirements
- Enable the Attorney General to pursue civil penalties of up to $100,000 for each day that a covered entity fails to comply with these age verification requirements
House Bill 84 awaits consideration in the Ohio Senate.
Sun Meals in Miami County
I'm pleased to share that there are several locations in Miami County offering free meals for children 18 and younger. You can find a full list of locations offering free meals in the area and across Ohio here.
Electra to Expand in Springfield
Governor DeWine recently announced that Electra has selected Springfield for the site of its first EL9 Ultra Short aircraft production facility.
This is a huge win for western Ohio, creating nearly 2,000 jobs for the surrounding communities and strengthening our economies.
The new facility will be located at AirPark Ohio, adjacent to Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport.
Restoring The Overfield Tavern in Troy
Back in June, I voted in support of Senate Bill 450 - Ohio's Capital Budget - a two-year capital improvements budget for state and community projects throughout Ohio totaling nearly $4 billion.
The bill provides appropriations for state infrastructure needs, including renovations to state offices, new construction for mental health facilities, land acquisition, and equipment. The plan also includes just over $200 million for community projects, which are projects that come from outside of state agencies and have a benefit or nexus to the state.
I helped secure $275,000 to restore the Overfield Tavern Museum. This is the oldest building in Troy, which was severely damaged by a fire in 2024. Preserving long-standing facilities in town will help further connect people to the places they love. I look forward to seeing the completed renovation!
