I am greatly honored to represent Ohio's 80th House District, covering Miami and southern Darke counties. If you are ever in Columbus, please feel free to call and schedule a visit at The People's Office of District 80.
Celebrating America 250
It was a patriotic delight to join numerous community members for an incredible celebration of America’s 250th year of liberty, thanking God for the first two hundred and fifty years and committing to our founding principles for the next.
Enact the Ohio River Restoration Program Act
I voted in support of House Concurrent Resolution 40, urging Congress to enact the Ohio River Restoration Program Act.
The Ohio River Restoration Program Act would establish a comprehensive federal restoration initiative for the Ohio River Basin, a vital system that supports manufacturing, agriculture, shipping, energy production, tourism, and municipal infrastructure across Ohio and the Midwest. The legislation would support investments to improve the quality of drinking water, protect public health, restore ecosystems, and strengthen local economies. Over 25 million Americans, including two-thirds of Ohio’s population, reside in the Ohio River Basin, and it serves as a crucial source of drinking water for more than 5 million people.
In 2023, American Rivers designated the Ohio River as America’s second most endangered river due to water quality degradation, harmful algal blooms, toxic contamination, aging infrastructure, and flooding events. HCR 40 sends a clear message that Ohio recognizes the importance of preserving and restoring the Ohio River, and that we support bipartisan efforts at the federal level to ensure this critical resource remains healthy and productive for decades to come.
H.C.R. 40 now goes to the Senate for further consideration.
SIGNED: House Bill 20
Governor DeWine recently signed House Bill 20 - legislation to increase the penalty for obstructing official business from a second-degree misdemeanor to a first-degree misdemeanor if the victim of the offense is an emergency service responder, commonly known as a first responder, who is responding to an emergency in an official capacity. The bill will also extend current law to include probation officers under the definition of emergency service responder.
Our first responders put their lives on the line every day for our communities; we should have regulations in place to protect them as well!
Congratulating Overfield Tavern and Troy Historical Society
The Overfield Tavern Museum recently celebrated its 60th year of honoring the rich history of Ohio and Miami County by joining forces with the Troy Historical Society.
I presented them with a commendation recognizing their excellent work in remembering and honoring those who have gone before us.
