I am greatly honored to represent Ohio's 80th House District, covering Miami and southern Darke counties. If you are ever in Columbus, please feel free to call and schedule a visit at The People's Office of District 80.
America 250 Celebration at the Miami County Courthouse
The Miami County Commissioners provided an outstanding celebration of America's 250th year of liberty at the courthouse, with a great crowd attending. During my remarks, I said, "We live in the greatest nation on earth in history, but not by our own doing. America exists because of the hand of the Almighty God in heaven. Our Founding Fathers believed this deeply. Americans today should believe this too."
George Washington said these words in his first inaugural address as President in 1789: “No People can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand, which conducts the Affairs of men more than the People of the United States. Every step, by which they have advanced…seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency."
Samuel Adams said in his speech to Congress the day before signing the Declaration of Independence, August 1, 1776, "We are now on this continent, to the astonishment of the world…There are instances of…an almost astonishing Providence in our favor; our success has staggered our enemies, and almost given faith to infidels; so we may truly say it is not our own arm which has saved us."
Ohio Ranks First as Top State for Business by CNBC
I'm pleased to share that the State of Ohio has been named number one in the nation for business, according to CNBC America’s Top States for Business rankings.
My republican colleagues and I have spearheaded a variety of impactful initiatives over the years, helping to maintain a favorable regulatory climate and addressing the issues that matter most to Ohioans: providing tax relief, creating jobs, boosting energy generation, and improving access to workforce training, affordable housing, and more.
Congratulations, Ohio!
SIGNED: Senate Bill 276
Governor DeWine this week signed Senate Bill 276 - legislation to require schools to teach the 'Success Sequence". The bill requires public schools to provide instruction for students in grades 6-12 on what's called the success sequence: graduating from high school, working full time, and marrying before having children. Students will receive this instruction in class at least once before graduation.
I'm pleased this bill is now a law! Thank you to my colleague, Senator Kristina Roegner, for carrying this bill in the Senate.
America's 250th Independence Day Parades
I was joined by numerous friends celebrating Independence Day at the parades in Troy and West Milton. There's nobody more patriotic than the awesome people living in the towns of Western Ohio. We love our country. God bless America!
