Greetings, Friends and Neighbors!
This week has been full of positive policies moving forward. Representative Click is excited to see legislation that he’s championed make such a strong running start. Let’s take a look at what’s been happening in the Statehouse!
House Bill 639 was unanimously voted out of the House Local Government Committee! House Bill 639 - referred to as the “Right to Race” bill - would help protect Ohio’s established racetracks from frivolous lawsuits. This legislation works to preserve the rights of racetrack owners, employees, and racing fans while supporting a motorsports industry that contributes to local economies and community traditions across Ohio. Representative Click is excited to see this legislation cross the finish line in the House!
House Bill 82 had a hearing in the House Public Safety Committee and received strong testimony. House Bill 82 - The Trenton Gallaway Work Zone Safety Act - seeks to strengthen safety in roadway construction zones through education. Construction workers put their lives on the line to make our roadways safe and keep them functional. Trent Gallaway was one of these workers. Trent was diligently working in a work zone when he was suddenly hit by a passing car. Mr. Gallaway sadly passed away from the sustained injuries of this tragic accident. House Bill 82 seeks to protect workers like Trent and keep accidents like this from happening again. Trent’s mother, Jennifer Gallaway, and others with similar stories came and provided strong support for this bill. Representative Click is thankful for the committee’s support of this legislation.
Representative Click had the honor of touring the School of the Blind and the School of the Deaf. These institutions offer vital resources to those with vision and hearing disabilities and impairments. The Director, Mrs. Maynus, took Rep.Click on the tour.
Representative Click is proud to support them in their endeavors and see a mother and daughter duo working hard to help Ohioans in different fields! He had the honor of meeting Mrs. Maynus's daughter, who is in the National Guard.
Representative Click also attended the Legislative Flight Orientation with the Ohio National Guard at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, where he met Mrs. Maynus's Daughter. Representative Click got to experience hands-on what our National Guard does. We are all thankful for the work of the National Guard to protect the land of the free and the home of the brave.

House Bill 268 also received its 5th Hearing and has now been successfully voted out of the Senate Workforce Development Committee. It now heads to the Senate for final consideration! This legislation is designed to expand employment opportunities for individuals with prior criminal records by streamlining and improving access to Certificates of Qualification for Employment (CQEs). By reducing barriers for workforce participation, H.B. 268 helps more Ohioans pursue meaningful employment and successfully reintegrate into their communities. We are pleased to see this important legislation continue advancing through the legislative process.
Last week, the House and Senate announced the Joint Legislative Data Center Study Committee. This committee was born from the conversation surrounding House Bill 646, the Data Center Study Commission championed by Rep. Click and Rep. Deeter. Representative Click looks forward to hearing from leaders on the committee regarding this issue.
This week on ‘What’s Clickin’ with State Representative Gary Click, we get to hear from Larry Fletcher, President of Shores and Islands. We will hear about Lake Erie's natural resources, tourism, and all that Ohio has to offer.
