I am greatly honored to represent Ohio's 80th House District, covering Miami and southern Darke counties. If you are ever in Columbus, please feel free to call and schedule a visit at The People's Office of District 80.
Reining In Out-of-Control Sports Gambling
State Representatives Gary Click, Riordan McClain, and I recently held a press conference to announce new legislation – the Save Ohio Sports Act – which works to prohibit certain types of sports gaming bets and betting on collegiate sports, addressing the public health crisis associated with legalized sports betting in the State of Ohio.
The sports betting law in place since 2023 is now one of the biggest regrets for many across the state, and we can all see why. It is ruining the lives of young men and their families, and it is ruining the games that we love. We want to put laws in place to protect consumers and preserve the integrity of the sports we love so much.
This new legislation would ban in-game betting, proposition, and parlay bets, as well as completely ban wagers on collegiate athletics.
Strengthening JROTC Programs
I voted in support of House Bill 500, legislation that aims to strengthen the state’s educational system, boost Ohio’s JROTC programs, and expand career technical education pathways.
The bill allows school districts in Ohio that offer a Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program or a National Defense Cadet Corps (NDCC) program to formally recognize them as part of the district’s career-technical education curriculum. By doing so, these programs would be included in the calculation of career-technical education funding, providing more opportunities for districts to support, enhance, and expand JROTC and NDCC programs for students.
The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) is a leadership program grounded in the values and practices of the United States military and offered in high schools and postsecondary institutions.
The legislation now advances to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
Protecting Ohio’s Elections
I voted in support of Senate Bill 63 - legislation that bans ranked choice voting in Ohio.
For too long, ranked choice voting has failed in Ohio and has failed in other states. Governor DeWine signed this bill into law on March 17, and it will become effective on June 16, 2026.
