Greetings, Friends and Neighbors!
We hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter weekend! This week has been busy for Representative Click. Let’s look at what’s been Clickin’ in the statehouse.
Representative Click dropped Brian's Law this week, a landmark piece of legislation that eases the taxation burden on those with disabilities. Under current Ohio law, service animals are not exempt from sales tax in the same manner as durable medical supplies. This places an additional financial burden on individuals with disabilities who rely on these animals for daily functioning.
While commonly associated with visual impairments, service animals provide vital assistance for a wide range of conditions. Individuals with diabetes rely on them to detect dangerous changes in blood sugar levels, while those with Tourette syndrome and other neurological disorders benefit from specialized interventions.
Brian’s Law has been introduced in response to a constituent who personally experienced this burden after paying out of pocket for a service animal. This legislation seeks to align Ohio’s tax policy with the essential role animals play in supporting individuals with disabilities.
This week on “What’s Clickin” with State Representative Gary Click, Rep. Click had the honor of sitting down with investigative reporter Megan Brock! Megan found the corruption in Cuyahoga County, which inspired the Affirming Families First Act that Representative Click is carrying. Be sure to listen to Megan’s testimony for the Affirming Families First Act by clicking the links below.
