 I am greatly honored to represent Ohio's 80th House District, covering Miami and southern Darke counties. If you are ever in Columbus, please feel free to call and schedule a visit at The People's Office of District 80.
Pro-Life Bill Introduced!
State Representative Jennifer Gross and I recently introduced House Bill 783 - legislation to ensure women have timely access to information on Abortion Pill Reversal Treatment, empowering them to make fully informed decisions about their future and health.
House Bill 783 will require abortion providers to provide women with timely and helpful information about their options if they want to reverse a chemical abortion after the process has already begun.
More than 8,000 babies have been saved from the abortion reversal pill. This is important legislation that supports women and protects life.
Key highlights of the bill are as follows:
- Requires abortion providers to give patients printed discharge instructions, including the Ohio Department of Health’s (ODH) pill reversal hotline and website, and a notice about Abortion Pill Reversal Treatment immediately after administering mifepristone during a chemical abortion;
- Outlines legal actions that can be taken against providers who do not abide by the requirements outlined by the bill;
- Requires ODH to provide information regarding Abortion Pill Reversal Treatment on its website and establish a toll-free pill reversal hotline; and
- Creates the unborn child education and public information fund in the state treasury, to be used for the website, hotline, materials, and health care provider training required under the bill.
If taken within the first 24 hours following the Mifepristone pill, Abortion Pill Reversal Treatment has been documented as saving thousands of babies’ lives across the country.
Limiting Data Centers in Ohio
I voted in support of House Bill 646 – legislation establishing the Ohio Data Center Study Commission.
This bill is in response to the rapid growth of data centers in Ohio and the many unanswered questions regarding their development. Key concerns include the use of agricultural land, noise pollution, water use and disposal, energy demand, national security, and much more. According to some estimates, roughly 200 data centers are operating in Ohio, and additional facilities are being proposed.
House Bill 646 would do the following:
- Create the Data Center Study Commission within the Department of Development, with members appointed by the Governor, Speaker of the House, and President of the Senate that meet certain criteria
- Require the Commission to examine various topics regarding data centers
- Require the Commission to submit a report of its findings and any legislative recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly not more than six months after the bill’s effective date
If enacted, the first Commission meeting must occur 45 days after the bill’s effective date.
House Bill 646 now heads to the Ohio Senate for consideration.
Protecting Ohio Property Against Foreign Adversaries
I am a co-sponsor of House Bill 1 - legislation protecting Ohio from the sale of land near critical infrastructure to foreign nations.
House Bill 1 works to prohibit people, agents, trustees, and fiduciaries from acquiring real property located within 25 miles of any installation under the jurisdiction of the U.S. armed forces, such as a military base, camp, or airport.
Ohio already has protections in place for the sale of agricultural land to foreign nations. This legislation will extend these same safeguards to land that isn’t agricultural and falls within the 25-mile range of critical infrastructure and military installations.
This bill awaits further consideration in the House Public Safety Committee.
Miami County Law Enforcement Awards Night
 I was honored to join Sheriff Dave Duchak in paying tribute to Miami County’s numerous first responders. They save countless lives routinely. They keep our communities safe. They sacrifice much for the good of our families and freedoms.
Hats off to all of them! All the gratitude and honor we can give them is truly deserved.
