Greetings, Friends and Neighbors!
Representative Gary Click has been actively advancing legislation at the Ohio Statehouse focused on strengthening families, improving public safety, and supporting Ohio communities! Below is an update on several key initiatives currently moving through the legislative process.
Representative Click recently had the opportunity to address the Sandusky County Regional Planning Commission regarding House Bill 646, legislation that would create a Data Center Study Commission. This commission would study Data Centers and their economic, environmental, and infrastructure impacts on local communities. The discussion generated thoughtful questions and valuable feedback from local leaders and residents. Representative Click appreciates the engagement from constituents and looks forward to HB 646 continuing through the legislative process!

The House Public Safety Committee heard proponent testimony this week on House Bill 200, the America First Act. This legislation seeks to align state practices with federal immigration enforcement procedures. In some cases, individuals who are unlawfully present in the United States have been released from local custody before federal authorities are able to take appropriate action. H.B. 200 aims to strengthen cooperation with federal immigration officials and ensure that Ohio communities remain safe while upholding lawful immigration processes. Representative Click is excited to see this bill move forward!
House Bill 162, the My Child My Chart Act, recieved sponsor testimony before the Senate Education Committee this week. This legislation is designed to strengthen parental rights by ensuring that parents have access to their child’s medical records. The bill originated from concerns raised by parents within Representative Click’s district and reflects a grassroots effort to reinforce transparency and parental involvement in a child’s healthcare.
In the Senate Addictions and Community Revitalization Committee, House Bill 393 heard proponent testimony. This legislation would help individuals in Community Based Correctional Facilities (CBCFs) obtain a valid state identification card prior to their release. The bill expands upon an existing program used in Ohio’s prison system and is intended to support successful reentry by helping individuals secure employment, housing, and other essential services. Representative Click is encouraged to see the bill continuing to move forward in the Senate!
House Bill 693, the Affirming Families First Act, heard sponsor testimony in the House Judiciary Committee this week. Representative Click and Representative Josh Williams urged the committee to advance the bill in order to strengthen protections for parents and families. The legislation focuses on reinforcing parental rights and ensuring that parents retain the ability to make decisions regarding the care and upbringing of their children.
Representative Click also provided sponsor testimony in the Senate Education Committee on House Bill 486, also known as the Charlie Kirk American Heritage Act. The legislation addresses academic freedom by affirming educators’ First Amendment rights and allowing discussion of the positive influence of Christianity on the development of the United States and Western civilization. Committee members asked several questions regarding the bill’s scope and implementation, and Representative Click appreciated the opportunity to explain the full scope of this incredible bill!
