Greetings, Friends and Neighbors!
One of Rep. Click's favorite days at the Statehouse is the Developmental Disabilities Advocacy and Awareness Day. He loves to connect with his dear friends from Seneca and Sandusky Counties.
Rep. Click’s bipartisan bill, House Bill 268, which expands opportunities for rehabilitated individuals to reintegrate into the workforce, received its first hearing in the Senate Workforce Development Committee. This bill will not only help the individual but also facilitate meeting the needs of the workforce.
This piece of legislation will shorten the timeline for individuals to apply for a certificate of qualification for employment. By allowing people to apply sooner or under clearer timelines, it will allow more Ohioans to return to the workforce and support themselves and their families. Representative Click is happy to see this legislation move forward!
Seneca County Ohioan, Jason Varney, was at the Statehouse this week for the Ohio Community Corrections Reception. Jason is an incredible source of wisdom and has great insight into the corrections facilities in Ohio. Representative Click is thankful for all the work he does!
House Bill 646 - legislation to create the The Data Center Study Commission - has successfully passed out of the House Technology and Innovation Committee! Local communities are faced with many questions and challenges as data centers rapidly proliferate throughout Ohio. This commission is tasked with sorting through what is fact and fiction and providing evidence-based recommendations for best practices.
House Bill 625 - the SAM Act - received proponent, opponent and IP testimony in the House Education Committee this week. This piece of legislation will increase the opportunities for student athletes in small rural communities to have access to competitive sports in their schools.
Riley Elliot and Riley Mullin, students at Heidelberg University, presented their research on "Characterizations of Honey in Northwest Ohio" at the Statehouse this week.
We are so proud of them and their accomplishments! We are incredibly proud of all our students in District 88 and look forward to seeing them succeed in their studies.
Next week will feature testimony on The America First Act - H.B. 200 - which addresses illegal immigration on the state level and takes a large leap to preventing Ohio from becoming Minnesota. Rep. Click has worked hard on this legislation along with his joint-sponsor, Rep. Nick Santucci.
This week on 'What’s Clickin' with State Representative Gary Click, we get to hear from Laura Hanford from The Heritage Foundation. Laura has worked tirelessly on legislation such as Sage’s Law and the Affirming Families First Act that Representative Click is currently carrying. Laura is an incredible advocate for children and Parental Rights.
