Dear Neighbor,
I am proud to represent the 52nd Ohio House District and serve as the Speaker Pro Tempore, assisting Speaker Matt Huffman in leading the House of Representatives and the important legislative agenda that will support all Ohioans. It is a true honor to be the first female in House history to serve in this role, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass sound legislation. I also serve on the House Education, General Government, Finance, and Workforce and Higher Education committees.
If I can be of any assistance to you, please reach out to my office at 614.644.5076 or rep52@ohiohouse.gov

Legislation in Committee
House Bill 455 - Bill To Modernize Ohio's Education Code
House Bill 455 would modernize Ohio’s education code by eliminating outdated educator requirements and reducing administrative burden to ensure teachers can devote more time to delivering high-quality instruction to Ohio students.
I recently provided sponsor testimony with Rep. Bird in the Senate Education Committee.
House Bill 644 - Create Higher Ed Evidence-Based Innovation Fund Grant Program
House Bill 644 would create the Higher Education Evidence-Based Innovation Fund and Grant Program, is currently being considered in the House Workforce and Higher Education Committee. If enacted, the Chancellor of Higher Education would be required to award competitive grants to state institutions of higher education to support student success programs that use evidence-based reforms or practices. It would also require the Chancellor to conduct a feasibility study on including employment and earnings criteria in the retrenchment processes at state institutions and submit a report on the findings to the General Assembly.
There are so many wonderful schools in our state, like Lorain County Community College, that help countless students achieve their dreams of graduating and finding a career here in Ohio.
House Bill 654 - Amanda Dean's Law
My colleague, Rep. Kellie Deeter, and I recently introduced Amanda Dean’s Law, legislation to increase criminal penalties to ensure accountability, protect human dignity, and provide justice for victims’ families.
The bill is named in honor of Amanda Dean, a Huron County resident and a 36-year-old mother of four, who was tragically murdered by her boyfriend in 2017.
Legislation Passed in the House
Over the last few weeks, the Ohio House has passed 19 bills over three sessions, addressing public safety and criminal justice, healthcare, business and economic development, and honoring our fallen Ohioan heroes.
I am proud of the hard work we have completed, but there is still much to be done! I look forward to continuing to fight for what matters most to District 52.
In District Events
McGregor PACE Facility Tour

I had a wonderful visit to the newly opened McGregor PACE in Elyria! I was so happy to see all the good they are doing for our community.
McGregor PACE provides comprehensive health care and supportive services designed to help older adults stay healthy and live safely in their own homes. They offer medical care, rehabilitation, social activities, transportation, and personal support both at adult health centers and in participants’ homes.
Congratulations Regan Phillips!

I had the pleasure of presenting a commendation to the Elyria Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission for their 40th annual Ruby Red Day of Service.
Thank you, Regan Phillips, for the invitation to this wonderful event. The work this organization does is more than commendable, and I am so happy to recognize such an important group.
Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation Event
I'd like to give a special thanks to our Mental Health Addiction & Recovery Board of Lorain County, Daniel Bennet, and Rebecca Jones for such a thoughtful event.
OhioSee Kickoff Event

I attended the kickoff of OhioSEE, a new children’s eyesight program. Governor DeWine announced the OhioSEE as a pilot program in 15 high-need counties, where more than 80% of children identified as needing additional vision care never receive it.
Lorain County is proud and thankful to have been selected to participate and benefit from this program. OhioSEE brings critical vision services, including comprehensive eye exams and glasses when needed, directly to kindergarten through third-grade students at school - helping ensure every child has the chance to see clearly and succeed.
Constituent Visits
I was so excited to meet recently with OPA pharmacy students, Patrick Kania, principal of Norwalk City Schools, and the Ohio Domestic Violence Network.
We had important discussions and shared great ideas focused on making things better for Ohioans. I'm grateful for the collaboration and commitment to moving our communities forward.

CTE Showcase
I had a great time attending the CTE Showcase and seeing the Lorain County JVS students in action!
Events like this highlight the importance of CTE programs and how they help students gain valuable skills, confidence, and experience for the future. I am proud of these students and all who participated in this event!
