Greetings, Friends and Neighbors!
This week has been a busy and productive week for Representative Click!
House Bill 268 successfully passed the out of the House and now heads to the Senate for further consideration! H.B. 268 will update the Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) program, enhancing its effectiveness for Ohioans going through the rehabilitation process while strengthening Ohio’s workforce.
House Bill 268, championed by Click and State Representative Latyna Humphrey, will allow individuals to apply for a CQE one year after their release from incarceration, aligning with the Certificate of Qualification for Housing (CQH) program.
Under current law, individuals with a felony conviction must complete up to five years of Community Control Sanctions and then wait an additional year before they are eligible to apply for a CQE, creating barriers to reintegration and rehabilitation. Representative Click is excited that this bill has passed!
Representative Click had the honor of attending a Youth Day with North Electric Cooperative at the Statehouse this past week! Students from all over Seneca and Sandusky County attended this event and asked insightful questions to representatives that came and spoke to them. Rep. Click was able to offer insight into the legislative process and how bills come to be law.
This week on What’s Clickin: Representative Click hosted Jason Varney, Craig Shumaker, and Representative Darnell Brewer to discuss HB 393, a bill that aims to address the struggles that inmates or formerly incarcerated individuals face in obtaining proper identification.
