Fellow Ohioans,
It's an honor to serve you in the 76th district. I've been very busy this general assembly helping pass meaningful legislation, attending in district events, and more. I'm excited to share a little but more about that with all of you.
If you are ever in need of assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or my office.

Representative Marilyn John's Newsletter Update
I recently had the privilege of presenting commendations to two outstanding community contributors in District 76:
-
Merris Welge, who received the 2025 Outstanding Senior Citizen and Community Service Award from the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging.
-
Richland Academy of the Arts, honored with the 2025 Community Service Award by the same organization.
Their dedication to our community is inspiring, and I was proud to recognize their achievements.
Touring the Ohio Laborers’ Union Training Facility
I had the opportunity to tour the Ohio Laborers’ Union Training Facility alongside several of my legislative colleagues. It was incredible to see firsthand how this facility is preparing Ohioans for in-demand careers in construction and infrastructure.
I’m grateful for the work they’re doing to strengthen our workforce and support good-paying jobs across the state.

Celebrating 75 Years of Troop 121
On October 13th, I had the honor of presenting a commendation to Boy Scout Troop 121 in celebration of their 75th anniversary. For decades, this troop has helped young men build character, serve their community, and grow into leaders. Congratulations to all the scouts—past and present—on this amazing milestone!
Recognizing Local State Champions
As a strong supporter of youth athletics, I was thrilled to recognize several student-athletes for their outstanding accomplishments:
-
Ontario High School’s Girls 4x400-meter relay team – 2025 Division II State Champions
-
Lexington High School’s Boys 4x800-meter relay team – 2025 Division I State Champions
-
Madison Henkel – 2025 Division II State Champion in Track and Field
These young athletes represent the best of our schools and our community. Congratulations!
Mansfield Playhouse Turns 100!
It was such a joy to honor the Mansfield Playhouse on its 100th anniversary. This incredible institution has brought culture, creativity, and community together through the power of live theater for a century—and it continues to thrive. Here's to the next 100 years!
Legislative Highlights
Here's a quick update on a few important issues I’m working on at the Statehouse:
- I’m actively working on House Bill 276, which aims to protect access to affordable medications through Ohio’s 340B program. This bill ensures that life-saving drugs reach the communities that need them most, while holding manufacturers and health plans accountable.
- I voted to override the Governor’s veto on Item #66, a measure that promotes levy transparency and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars at the local level.
- I also proudly supported and helped pass House Bill 29, which unanimously passed the House. This bill ensures better access to feminine hygiene products and showers for women in Ohio’s correctional facilities—something that’s long overdue.
Bellville World’s Fair
I also had a fantastic time at the Bellville World’s Fair, a great reminder of how strong and connected our small-town communities truly are.
Upcoming Events
I’m excited for the upcoming Mansfield Symphony’s "Magical Music of Harry Potter" on October 19th! This will be a wonderful evening for families and fans of all ages.
