Greetings, Fellow Ohioans!
As committee and session resume, Representative Click is busier than ever. He has met with constituents and interested parties across our great district, ensuring their voices are heard.
With the recent tragic passing of Charlie Kirk, Representative Click has drafted a bill in his honor - The Charlie Kirk American Heritage Act, which would seek to affirm that teaching the historical role of the Christian Faith and Religion and its impact on America and its founding is protected under the First Amendment.
This bill would respond to claims that educators often hear about accurately teaching America’s religious heritage, which has been increasingly erased from our curriculum in school systems. This does not create a mandate for teachers to incorporate this into their curriculum, but instead protects educators who choose to do so.
Teachers can present historical facts about Christianity’s impact on the founding of our nation and its original laws and documents, without facing pushback from school systems and others.
Representative Click believes that this will honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk and impact the next generation with the truth of our nation's founding and the Truth of Christ’s impact on our nation.
The Representative is also dropping another bill this week, called the WIN Act. This bill works to create the Workforce Investment Now for Child Care Pilot Program. This legislation is a strategic investment not only in the workforce, but also in Ohio families.
Moms who choose childcare as a profession are faced with the dilemma of paying to place their own children in the childcare facility where they work, which means that they are ultimately watching other people’s children for free. Childcare centers cannot afford to surrender limited childcare seats for their employees and still be profitable. The catch is that we have a willing employer and a willing employee who just can’t make it work, which creates a shortage of childcare workers and deprives the workforce of skilled and willing laborers.
This bill allows a childcare worker to work in such a fashion that it opens multiple slots for other parents to then have childcare as provided by that childcare worker. Representative Click believes that this bill will help young families and encourage those who are looking to start a family.
