Sub. House Bill 23 - ECAP
Rep. Bird is a co-sponsor of Sub. House Bill 23 – legislation that creates an alert program to increase public safety when a convict escapes from custody.
The Escaped Convict Alert Program (ECAP) would be used to alert the public to an incarcerated felon who has escaped from a jail, workhouse, or correctional institution. Local law enforcement would be the controlling agency that activates the ECAP once they are informed of the escape.
Sub. House Bill 23 awaits further consideration in the Senate.
White House State Leadership Conference
Rep. Bird recently attended the White House State Leadership Conference with his fellow state legislative colleagues in Washington D.C.
The conference was organized by the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs to foster collaboration and communication between federal, state and local governments, while providing a forum to discuss shared priorities, policies, and more.
Rep. Bird had the opportunity to discuss Ohio’s priorities with senior officials in the Trump Administration, including Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
